COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information
for St. Andrew’s United Church.
The Re-opening Committee has prepared the following document with Guidelines for re-opening the church.  This is a live document and will be revised as necessary.
As of Sunday, September 13th, 2020 we are worshipping in person as well as online on Facebook Live.

St. Andrew’s will open the doors wide for worship on September 13.

As St. Andrew’s enters the phases of re-establishing face-to-face activities, the focus will be on safety and care. With empathy and thoughtfulness, we rethink how worship will be provided, and the following practices will be in effect:

Participation of no more than 30% of the capacity of premises.

Maintaining a distance of two metres/six feet between all persons as much as possible.

Masks, will be worn inside the premises (according to Halton Hills By-law No. 2020-0037)

The following in-person practices are suspended:

  • Congregational singing and chanting
  • Choir practice and in-person singing
  • Wind instruments
  • Physical contact. (People will be encouraged to greet each other with a smile)
  • Items that cannot be cleaned and sanitized before and after use – hymnbooks, bulletins, envelopes
  • Communion
  • Sharing of microphones
  • Rituals involving close physical contact (e.g. baptism)
  • Offering plates. (A designated area for donations will be arranged)
  • Food services, like coffee-time after the service
  • In person activities for children (e.g. Sunday School)

(This is also being published in our Weekly News from the Pews starting on August 20th, 2020).

1) There is now a sign-in/out sheet at the Hand Sanitizer table (the parking lot entrance) for ANYONE entering the church building.  We need to keep track of everyone visiting the building at what time and what places were visited.
2) A face mask is required.
3) All persons entering MUST WASH HANDS or use hand sanitizer upon entry and MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCE of 2 M (6 FEET) from all other people in the building.
4) If you are presently experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc.), please do not enter the building!
5) If you have recently travelled or been in contact with someone who has recently travelled or has COVID-19, please do not enter the building without having completed the 14-day minimum Self-isolation (as per government directive).
Thank you for your co-operation!
