Finance Team Letter for Covid 19 Donations

Letter from the Finance Team (revised April 2, 2020)

The Covid-19 pandemic has us all facing unprecedented challenges that we are all working our way through and helping each other on that journey.  Because our Church has been forced to close, we are facing significant financial challenges.  For the time being we have lost our rental income as well as our regular Sunday collection plate offering.  Yet we still have expenses for salaries, insurance, heat, hydro etc. some of which are diminished during the shutdown but still requiring payment.  St. Andrew’s really needs your continuing financial support.

So how do we continue to financially support our Church if we can’t bring in our regular envelopes? To those of you on PAR (Pre-Authorized Remittance), thank you, thank you, thank you.  At least half of our envelope givings come from you straight to our bank account.  If you can afford it, consider asking Nancy Thompson to increase your amount for a couple of months.

Here are some options for you to give to St. Andrew’s:

  1. Make on-line credit card donations via CanadaHelps.  CanadaHelps is a charity that provides the capability for other registered charities (that’s us) to securely receive on-line donations without having to set up our own complex processing system. They are recommended by the United Church of Canada and we have been registered with them and received occasional donations through them for quite some time.  It is secure, it works, and it is sterile.
Here’s how to make a credit-card donation to St. Andrew’s via CanadaHelps.

Please review the revised information below—it is now easier to donate through CanadaHelps!

Here’s how to make a credit-card donation to St. Andrew’s via CanadaHelps.

  1. In your web browser enter https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/22430
  2. This link will take you to a Donation form for St. Andrew’s United Church.
  3. Enter the amount of your donation. In the message field you can indicate where you want your donation applied e.g. local, M&S, etc.  If you do not indicate a preference, your  donation will be applied to local Church expenses.
  4. Continue filling out the “Donor and Tax Receipt Information” and “Payment Information” boxes with a valid email address, name, address and credit card information.  When complete, click ‘Complete Donation Now’.  That’s it – you’re done.  Thank you for supporting St. Andrew’s.

Note that you will receive a tax receipt for your donation via e-mail from CanadaHelps, not from St. Andrew’s.  If you need help with this, contact the Treasurer Brian Heinmiller 905-877-7947 or e-mail.

2. Mail a cheque to St. Andrew’s United Church, 89 Mountainview Road S, Georgetown, ON L7G4T9.  We will be picking up the mail periodically, securely handling it, and recording and depositing donations.

3. For other giving options or assistance with your giving contact the Treasurer Brian Heinmiller 905-877-7947 or e-mail brian.j.heinmiller@gmail.com.  We’ll figure something out that works for you.

Thank you for your continuing financial support.  With each of us doing our part, we’ll get through this challenge together.
